Experience first hand the famous art form of the Aṉangu people: the dot painting. Book this Maruku Arts Dot Painting Workshop that happens within the Ayers Rock Resort in Northern Territory, Australia.

Anangu paintings are created for educational and ceremonial purposes as well as depicting events that have occurred. In this workshop, you'll share a seat with a local Aṉangu artist together with an assisting interpreter to learn and create your own dot painting artwork. On top of this experience, you'll be able to take home your very own work of art.

  • Introduction to Indigenous art by a local Anangu artist
  • Canvas to create your own dot painting masterpiece to take home
  • Learn about the different symbols depicting Creation Time (Tjukurpa) stories


Dot Painting Workshop is held within the Ayers Rock Resort, (near the Town Square Lawn Area) in Yulara, Northern Territory. At the end of the session, pay a visit to the adjacent Indigenous Art Markets to see local artists at work and purchase an authentic piece of Anangu art or craft to take home.

This workshop runs approximately 1.5 hour and available twice daily. Time slots are at 11:30 A.M and 2:00 P.M.

Workshop price is $72.00 for adults and $36.00 for children ages 5 - 15 years. A family package is available for $198.00 (2 adults and 2 children).

The activity will take place at Yulara town square near Kulata Café, outdoors, under a shelter. 

You can fly to Uluru (Ayers Rock) via Qantas or Virgin Australia from all Australian capital cities except Canberra. Complimentary shuttle buses transfer guests from the airport to the resort. There are no taxi services available in the area.
