Step away from the bustling city life, camp in a traditional land at Wumbal Campsite located near Hope Vale in North Queensland. A camping experience with the opportunity to learn about the country.
Experience camping in a traditional land and have the opportunity to learn about the country and participate with hands on experiences. This camp is located on the top ridge where pandas tree is called Wumbal.
You can unwind and reconnect with nature, as there will be marked up sites to allow self-drive/self-contained campers. Showers and toilets are available on the campsite.
This campsite is not only for pitching tents and spending time in nature, cultural and bush tucker tours to lake and on country are at hand. Additionally, you can arrange exciting activities such as birdwatching, croc spotting at night, and pig hunting. Cud Murray (dinner) can be arranged for you, it can be added as part of the tours mentioned above.
The campsite is best for families, corporate groups for weekend retreats, school groups for camps with an educational component. Tag along tours are also available.
Camping - $30 per car of 4 people, additional $5 per person
Tag along - $500 per car, $250 per additional car
Cud Murray - price on request
Please note that visitors are expected to bring their own water and to respect the land by cleaning up after their own rubbish.
Wumbal Campsite will officially open this April 2020, the closing of the camp will depend on the start of the wet season. Minimum stay is one night.

The camp sites are located near Hope Vale, North Queensland. Hope Vale is about 35-minute drive from Cooktown and 4-hours drive from Cairns.
From Cairns, you can reach your destination via State Route 81. From Cooktown, it is accessible via Endeavour Valley Rd.
Okapi Airlines operates flights from Cairns to Cooktown airport daily. The journey time takes about 45 minutes.
